Johan Eliasch ist neuer Präsident des Weltskiverbandes FIS. Der 59jährige setzte sich auf dem digital durchgeführten Wahlkongress bereits in der ersten Runde gegen drei weitere Kandidaten durch, darunter die ehemalige FIS-Generalsekretärin Sarah Lewis. Für Eliasch voteten 65 Delegierte, das waren mehr als 54% der abgegebenen Stimmen.
Zuvor war Gian Franco Kasper zum Ehrenpräsidenten der FIS ernannt worden. Der Schweizer hatte die Geschicke des Weltskiverbandes fast ein Vierteljahrhundert geleitet. Kasper konnte gesundheitsbedingt nicht an der Wahl teilnehmen.

Johan Eliasch is the new president of the World Ski Federation FIS. The 59-year-old prevailed in the first round against three other candidates, including the former FIS General Secretary Sarah Lewis at the digitally conducted election congress. 65 delegates voted for Eliasch, which was more than 54% of the votes cast.
Previously, Gian Franco Kasper had been appointed honorary president of the FIS. The Swiss had led the fortunes of the World Ski Federation for almost a quarter of a century. Kasper was unable to participate in the election due to health reasons.
